As a New Mexico State University student and a member/veteran of the United States Armed Forces, you deserve recognition for your academic achievements and contributions. Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, and Excellence (SALUTE) is the first national honor society created for active military and veteran students at higher education institutions nationwide. To attain membership into SALUTE, students must meet the following criteria (AWARDED EVERY SPRING/FALL):
- Be currently enrolled as an NMSU-Las Cruces student
- Have completed 12 credits of undergraduate coursework
- Undergraduate students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00
- Undergraduate GPA tiers are broken down according to the following:
- Alpha Tier GPA: 3.75 - 4.00
- Bravo Tier GPA: 3.50 - 3.74
- Charlie Tier GPA: 3.25 - 3.49
- Delta Tier GPA: 3.00 - 3.24
- Undergraduate GPA tiers are broken down according to the following:
- Graduate students must have completed 9 credits, hold at least a 3.5 GPA, and will be classified as “SALUTE Gold Member”
- Have served (honorable discharge) or currently serving (active duty)
Students selected for membership in SALUTE will receive a diploma seal certificate and a SALUTE challenge coin. Members of the SALUTE Honor Society have full access to the scholarships available by SALUTE. These nationally recognized scholarships are intended to aid students who need supplementation of their GI bill funding and those who lack GI bill benefits.
