New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship (NMOS) Resident Tuition Rate Eligibility
New Mexico National Guard members and their dependents are considered in-state residents for tuition purposes.
Members of the New Mexico National Guard who are not New Mexico residents may still qualify for the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship (NMOS) by submitting the required documentation.
The Opportunity Scholarship funds are provided, published, and enforced by the New Mexico Higher Education Department. The intention of the Opportunity Scholarship is to ensure that an eligible student does not have to pay for tuition or eligible fees out of their own pocket.
Students are required to meet the academic requirements listed on the https://fa.nmsu.edu/scholarships/opportunity.html.
Disclaimer: These documents are used to verify eligibility for the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship (resident tuition rate). Submission of documents does not establish official New Mexico residency. Once verified, eligible students may receive the in-state tuition rate. The Financial Aid Office will make the final determination of eligibility and add the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarships to your MyNMSU.
