New Student Information

Military and Veterans Programs will host a BBQ Welcome Session in August.
Details on our Welcome Session will be provided at a later date.

New Student Registration and Orientation Programs are designed to provide new students with expanded orientation programming, information on essential student services, academic advisement and class registration, all of which will facilitate a smooth transition to NMSU. By the end of registration, students will have a class schedule, NMSU ID, new friends and a solid framework for success!

It is now MANDATORY for all first time (New and Transfer) NMSU undergraduate students to attend new student registration and complete the orientation session before they will have permission to register for classes.

If you are unable to attend the mandatory face-to-face New Student Registration and Orientation Program, you can petition for an exemption. A petition needs to be submitted in order to have your orientation hold removed so you may register for classes. Once the petition is submitted, the Aggie Welcome and Orientation program will make a decision and contact you within 2 business days.

This year, students will have a choice between attending a one-day or two-day session. During the two-day sessions, new students will have the option of staying overnight on campus in Garcia Hall. The cost will be $15 per night, which includes one overnight stay and breakfast in Taos Restaurant. Students will need to provide their own sheets, towels, pillow, etc.

The New Student Registration (NSR) system is now open. Make your NSR reservation. If students do not make a reservation for the registration program, they are not guaranteed participation in orientation or an appointment to meet with an academic advisor in their area of interest.

For more information about the program, dates, one-day and two-day program agenda, or to make a reservation, visit Aggie Welcome and Orientation.
