This year kicks off NMSU’s 4th annual tradition, Military and Veterans Appreciation Week, which focuses on enhancing and supporting NMSU’s military and veteran friendly community. Students, faculty, and staff who have served, past and present, are extremely valuable to us and we thank them deeply for their sacrifice and service!
Saturday, October 27th – Run for the Brave 5K
Check in starts at 6 a.m. Race starts at 7:30 a.m. at the bottom of the Horseshoe at Pride Field (South Horseshoe St.) Run is $5 for NMSU students, $20 for non-NMSU students. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners. All proceeds will go toward the RAYVETS Degree Completion Scholarship!
Raytheon Company is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions. RAYVETS is an internal Employee Resource Group within Raytheon that supports Raytheon’s veterans and their families and well as veterans in our local communities. The scholarship funds shall be used to make an award to one or more full-time or part-times, undergraduate or graduate students. The award recipient must have been honorably discharged and Veteran benefits must have expired/run out or are otherwise unavailable.

Tuesday, November 6th – Veterans Day Picnic!
Military and Veterans Programs and the Student Veterans Organization of NMSU invite you to our VETERANS DAY PICNIC in honor of our military and veteran students. Information tables from different local Veteran Service Organizations will be available to answer any questions you may have, followed by FREE enchiladas from Chachi’s Restaurant, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Garcia Center Courtyard.
Wednesday, November 7th – Student Veterans Organization (SVO) Day
The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) of NMSU will set an information table from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. outside Corbett Center main entrance to learn about the SVO and issues concerning military and veteran students on campus.
Thursday, November 8th – ROTC/Armed Forces Recruiters Day
Meet local recruiters from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the grassy area behind Young Hall.

Friday, November 9th – NMSU Faculty & Staff Military Veteran Banquet
NMSU has a long history of faculty and staff military veterans who have added to the diversity and quality of our school. Your service is greatly appreciated and admired. In your honor, Military and Veterans Programs is hosting the fourth annual Dinner from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the NMSU Golf Course Clubhouse, Banquet Room. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Space is limited, Reserve TODAY and let us know if you are bringing a plus one!

Tuesday, November 13th – The Fort Bliss Movie
Fort Bliss is an American drama film directed and written by Claudia Myers, a military-based drama set on Fort Bliss. The film starts at 6pm in the Health and Social Services auditorium.
